Lake Superior Copper Kings: The Story of the Calumet & Arizona Mining Company with Mike Anderson
Saturday, August 15, 2026, 11:00 AM – MST
Although Phelps Dodge was the dominant mining company during Bisbee’s early days, another major copper producer entered the Warren Mining District during the first years of the 20th century. Historian Mike Anderson will tell the story of the Calumet & Arizona Mining Company, which started life in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and had a powerful impact on copper mining in Bisbee and other parts of southern Arizona.
Longtime Bisbee resident Mike Anderson is the author of “Warren Ballpark,” a work that delves into the rich history of the playing field. He is also the historian and founding member of the Friends of Warren Ballpark in Bisbee. In addition to “Warren Ballpark,” Anderson’s historical research has been featured in numerous journals and articles.
