A black and white postcard of a view of a street in Jiggerville. Note the head frame in the top left corner of the image, as well as the outhouses and rock retaining walls. The front caption reads: “Jiggerville Lowell Ariz.” The postcard is unused, and the publisher is unknown.
Jiggerville was once one of the outlying home sites around Warren that housed miners and their families. It’s odd sounding name comes from the mining term Jiggerville was among the communities that had to be demolished to make way for the expanding Lavender pit. One of its former famous residents was actor Earl Hindman who had a recurring role playing Wilson on the sitcom “Home Improvement”. When reminiscing on Jiggerville he said: “when I heard they’d found a big copper vein in Jiggerville and leveled the town, I cried. That was the year I found out that Santa Claus didn’t exist and Jiggerville was gone. It was a traumatic year.”
