In late December 1922, Laundry Hill residents dissatisfaction with the name led to a committee being formed which included J.J. Dugal, James Malley and Gus Haiger. They gathered many signatures on a petition for city council to change Laundry Hill to a more pleasing sounding “Garden Heights”. Despite their best efforts, the name remained. Though lacking a better name, three flights of new stairs were added to Laundry Hill in the same year. On March 26th 1975 a storm hit Bisbee. Powerful winds reaching 50 miles an hour blew down a small building on top of a nearby home on Laundry Hill.
