The Johnson Addition was a townsite built by the J.E. Thompson Company to accommodate Bisbee’s growing population. In late April of 1905, the housing lots were offered for sale. Among the purchasers were M.J. Cunningham, Dr. D. Cassady, Jasper A. Turner, Mrs. Mary A. Coles, Jack McGregor, Steward Grant, F.W. Dixon, M.R. Hennessy and E.B. Thompson. Among the businesses the operated in the Johnson Addition were Fred Harris’s grocery store, the CM McKean & Poindexter store and the Midway Bar whose proprietorship switched hands from Frank Johnson (1907-1911) to Andy Johnston and George Watz (1911-1915).
