Studio portrait of Mrs. John Slaughter and Apache May. She is carrying the child in a buckskin papoose carrier. Apache May was captured in a raid on an Apache camp 6 miles west of Ash Springs. The papoose carrier was found there also. Apache May lived with the Slaughters until 1900 when she died as the result of accidental burns.
