A black and white photo postcard of two men and a dog on Broadway Avenue. The front caption at the top reads: “Broadway, Bisbee, Arizona.” The postcard was postmarked Bisbee, Ariz. and was postmarked on the image side instead of the back by mistake. It was sent by A. Roy Tietsort to Ms. G. E. Murdoch, Bay Port Huron Co., Mich. R.F.D.#1. The message on the back in ink reads: “"Box Bisbee, Ariz, / Jan. 8, '08 - Dear Graze, Am at Lowell now in the P.O. did not find Mr. Clarke in. Will have to write him and make an appointment with him. Am feeling fine. Yours, A. R. Tietsort" The postcard was published by the Bisbee Drug Company and printed in Germany. It was sent with a green one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp. On School Hill was Broadway Alley which was considered to be the roughest walkway in Bisbee. James McDonated, Street Superintendent, advised that the street be paved over with brick ot improve its surface. Work continued through February and finished in early March 1912 was completed at the cost was roughtly $29.02 ($847.47) for cement, 8.00 for sand ($233.62), labor for laying brick 55.00 ($1,606). labor preparing the alley- 4.00 ($116.81) with other assorted expenses for an estimated total of $108.02 - ($3,154.50) . Along with the paving, the lighting was improved so residents would be safer walking home. The alley was also the site of a hold up robbery on January 3rd, 1907.
