A color postcard of the Hanging Bridge in Colorado. The front caption on the bottom right reads: “Hanging Bride in the Royal Gorge, Color., on D. & R.G.R.R.” The back caption on the top left reads: “Hanging Bridge in the Royal Gorge The Grand Canon of the Arkansas is nearly ten miles in length, extending from near Canon City to Parkdale. About midway is the Royal Gorge, the deepest and narrowest part of the canon, where the walls rise to a height of 2, 500 feet and the river channel is so restricted that the railroad is carried over the stream by a bridge suspended from the rocks above.” The postcard was postmarked Denver, Colo. The message on the back in pencil reads: “Thought I would drop you a card and see the Professor & he wants to know why you don’t write. Hope all is well as this leaves us all at present. Awful hot here will leave here next week. Jinks.” The postcard was published by the Harry Heye Tammen Company, Denver, Colorado and was sent with a green one-cent George Washington stamp.
